Niswander Environmental is contracted by Toll Brothers to manage onsite wetland mitigation, restore degraded wetlands, and improve Environmental Features Setback Areas at the Reserve at West Bloomfield development. Wetland mitigation and monitoring was required by both EGLE and West Bloomfield Township. The wetlands were successfully constructed in 2020. The mitigation areas were designed to be a diverse system comprised of emergent, scrub-shrub, and forested wetland habitats and were created by expanding an existing wetland complex onsite. The mitigation plan also included restoration to existing wetlands through invasive species management and native vegetation restoration, as well as the construction of bioswales and Environmental Features Setback Areas. Niswander Environmental continues to monitor the establishment of wetland vegetation, wildlife utilization and hydrology and manages invasive species across the development.
