On behalf of Wheeler Farm, LLC, Niswander Environmental developed a third wetland mitigation bank located in Macomb County, Michigan: the Clinton River Phase II Wetland Mitigation Bank. This bank covers the Clinton River Watershed and the Ecoregion VI.1.1, and involved the restoration of approximately 101.57 acres of wetland. The conceptual design of the wetland mitigation bank site is to create a self-sustaining diverse mixed-type wetland. We created 101.86 acres of wetland, comprised of 69.11 acres of forested, 23.92 acres of scrub-shrub, and 8.83 acres of emergent wetland. Final design was based on the outcome of groundwater monitoring, hydrologic modeling, and other site constraints. Construction was completed in June 2015.
