Interacted with various stakeholders (e.g., Wetland Advisory Council, Drain Commissioners, Farm Bureau, Environmental Groups, and Legislative Staff). Lead project manager for establishing new permitting system for wetlands, lakes, streams, and Great Lakes. Managed the MDEQ Wetland Identification Program (WIP), and 1-3 contractors per year. Served as State expert in wetlands identification procedures. Provided wetland identification technical assistance for staff and contractors. Developed the Wetlands Function and Value Assessment Method for Michigan (MiRAM). Reviewed and developed wetland policy and staff guidance. Wetland Identification Specialist, MI Department of Environmental Quality (1998 – 1999)
Provided delineation of wetlands and determination of regulatory status for private landowners and developers in Southeast Michigan. Provided identification of vegetation, soils, and other hydrologic indicators to delineate wetland areas. Documented site findings and prepare site maps and letters to applicants regarding findings.

Sampled aquatic invertebrates using dip nets, blacklight traps, emergence traps,and activity traps. Identified and quantified invertebrate samples from various wetlands to a genus and species level. Sampled fish using Fyke nets within shallow water emergent and floating leaf coastal wetlands on Saginaw Bay. Identified and quantified fish samples from various wetlands to a species level. Conducted research in several wetland areas throughout Michigan, with the concentration of work in Lake Huron coastal wetlands.
